Federal cities of Russia
A city of federal importance〔http://www.constitution.ru/en/10003000-04.htm〕〔http://eng.constitution.kremlin.ru/〕 () or federal city in Russia is a city which has a status of both an inhabited locality and a constituent federal subject.
The Russian Federation is divided into eighty-five federal subjects, two of which are federal cities (three, if the city of Sevastopol in the disputed Crimea region is included).

On 18 March 2014, the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol were annexed by the Russian Federation, and Sevastopol was designated a city of federal significance.〔Kremlin.ru.
